Former Minister of State for Coal, Dasari Narayan Rao supported the plea of former Jharkhand chief minister Madhu Koda seeking summon against former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. The duo want the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to include Singh as an additional accused in the multi-crore Coal scam.
Appearing before the Special CBI court, Rao’s counsel told the court that his client would like the central probe agency to summon Singh and investigate his role in the scandal. ”I am supporting the (Koda’s) application,” Rao’s counsel Satish Maneshinde told the court.
To further justify his stand, Rao’s counsel said: “Amarkonda Murgadangal coal block in Jharkhand was allotted to Naveen Jindal Group firms and the decision was taken by the then Prime Minister (Manmohan Singh) who was also held the coal portfolio at the time.”
On September 4, Koda had moved the application demanding an inquiry against Singh. According to the former Jharkhand minister, it was the Prime Minister’s Office which examined a several times before allotting the Amarkonda Murgadangal to Jindal group firms – Jindal Steel and Power Ltd (JSPL) and Gagan Sponge Iron Pvt Ltd (GSIPL).
Meanwhile, Supreme Court rejected the petition of Madhu Koda, demanding the quashing of FIRs registered against him related to the irregularities adopted in the coal bloc allocations. Source—
