The Bakreswar Thermal Power plant is an existing 1050 (MW) coal-fired power project owned and operated by West Bengal Power Development Corporation at suri, Birbhum district in West Bengal, India. An additional 600 MW power station announced by WBPDC in 2012 but as per the record of the web site of the company it seems that the project is shelved.
The proposed expansion unit located at the 38 ha of vacant land adjacent to unit. coal requirement would 2.21 MTPA. Water requirement 1893 m3 / hr will be obtain from Tilpara Barrage and Bakreswar dam.
