Neulapoi power project (CESC) is a proposed 1320 MW coal-fired power plant promoted by CESC, a flagship company of RP- Sanjiv Goenka group, at Dhenkanal district in Odisha, India. Though more than 500 acres of land has been acquired for the project and waiting for FSA ( coal linkage). The Standing committee has yet to decide on FSA. Now the govt. of India is planning to re-exercise the auction method in coal linkge as did in coal blocks.
The site is located 1.5 km west of village Neulapoi. The site encompassed by villages Durgaprasad and Bandha-Nelagaon in the east, Neulapoi and Parikhoda in the north, Jankhira and Belatikiri to the south and Dandarnail & Sagarapasi to the west. The plant will be located about 12 km from NH-42 connecting the Cuttack-Sambalpur road. Joranda town and Dhenkanal are at a distance of 11 km and 12 km respectively from the project site. Nearest railway station is Joranda on Talcher- Cuttack section of SE railway. The nearest port is Paradeep (220 km). The nearest airport is Bhubaneswar Airport, which is about 100 km away from the project site.
The main source of raw water for the plant will be from Brahmani river. The intake point is at Kotapala village located approximately 8.5 km from the proposed site. The maximum water requirement for the proposed project is about 4140 m3/h or 99360 m3/d
Fuel / Coal
The proposed power plant will be fueled by coal. However, one unit will be charged with 100% imported coal initially and later stage on the basis of 70% imported and 30% indigenous coal. The other unit will be charged with 100% indigenous coal.
