Jindal Power, Jaiprakash Power, Powergrid and NHPC will be honoured with national awards on June 3 for their performance in the power sector, officials said.
The government has chosen Jindal Power’s OP Jindal super thermal power project (unit 2) under gold category for 2013-14 under its comprehensive award scheme while Jaiprakash Power’s Baspa-II hydro plant will get the award for good performance.
Powergrid Corp will receive the gold category award for transmission system availability and NHPC Nimmo Bazgo hydro electric project under early completion category.
Among the silver category winners, NTPC Dadri combined cycle gas turbine station and JSW Energy’s Toranagallu-II thermal power station will get awards for good performance of thermal power stations while Tata Power, Maharashtra will get an accolade for performance of distribution companies.
Torrent Power will get bronze category award for performance of distribution companies along with National Thermal Power Corporation Limited, is an Indian Public Sector Undertaking, engaged in the business of generation of electricity and allied activities. It is a company incorporated under the Companies Act 1956 and a "Government Company" within the meaning of the act. The headquarters of the company is situated at New Delhi. The awards are given under various categories including early completion and performance of nuclear, thermal and hydro projects, transmission system availability, performance of rural distribution franchisees and environment management.
The government has chosen about 34 winners under the comprehensive award scheme.
